Welcome
For most of the year we’re exactly what the name says — a working freshwater farm. 116 acres of spring-fed lakes on the Capel River, where we’ve raised Western Australia’s marron since 1988.
A handful of times each season, we hand the whole place over to a couple getting married. We’re not a wedding factory: there’s one wedding on at a time, the lakes are yours for the evening, and the same family that farms the water is here on the day.
If you’re after somewhere that feels like the South West actually looks — open sky, still water, long light — come and have a walk around. The kettle’s usually on.
The Setting
You arrive down a long avenue of gums, and by the time you reach the lakes the road has already done half the work. They sit still by late afternoon and face due west, so ceremonies run straight into the sunset — and behind them, a pavilion built from timber reclaimed from the old Fremantle Jetty.
It’s a real farm, not a manicured estate. That’s the point. We’re 25 minutes south of Bunbury and about two hours from Perth, close enough for guests to get here and far enough that it feels like somewhere else entirely.

Most venues buy their seafood in. We pull ours from the lakes you’re standing beside. Menus are built for sharing, cooked fresh, and change a little with the season — here’s the sort of thing you’d be feeding your guests.

The things couples always ask
What if it rains?
The pavilion seats everyone. We move the ceremony under cover with the lakes still in view — no scramble, no back-up venue.
Where do guests stay?
Bunbury is 25 minutes away with plenty of rooms; Busselton and Margaret River are an easy drive. We’ll send a list.
Can we come look first?
Please do. We run walk-throughs late afternoon so you see the light you’d actually get married in.
When’s the sunset?
We time your ceremony to it. Sunset here runs to about 7.20pm in midsummer and around 5.20pm in June, so ceremonies are usually 5–5.30pm in summer and around 3.30pm through the cooler months.
Do you host smaller ones?
Yes — elopements and dinners from a dozen guests, right up to 300. Same lakes, same kitchen.
Can we bring our own suppliers?
Bring your own florist, celebrant, photographer and music. Catering & bar stay with us — it’s the best of the farm.
